We adopted Buster
from the North Shore Animal League in Port Washington. They had a good selection of dogs and cats,
but of course we were only looking for dogs – which is a good thing since Ian
is very allergic to cats.

The nice people at the animal shelter gave us a bag of dry kibble
and a collar after I filled out all the paperwork for the license and paid the fees.
On our way home, T.J. and I stopped in at
a pet store and picked up some necessary items – two bowls (one for food and one
for water), a harness and leash, a pooper-scooper, a bed, a couple boxes of doggie
treats and a couple toys for Buster to play with. Once we were back in the car and Buster was secure,
I made it clear to T.J. that Buster was his responsibility – he had to walk Buster
before school, after school and before bed no matter what the weather was. He also had to clean up after him if he did his
business in the back yard. But T.J. was expecting
all that and agreed to it readily.
So now there are four of us at home – me, Ian, T.J. and Buster.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
